Story

Our compilation album featuring bands from Japan and UK but not Tokyo / London. That's how it ended up, but it felt like a statement suited for us.

Talk about this Japan-UK compilation started with a plan for a 12", then it just expanded into a full LP. My friend Jun's band Nelories had just been signed up by Japanese label Por Supuesto, and the label brought the idea. At least that's how I thought it was - it's a long time ago!

They arranged Japanese side of material, we did UK. Pure recorded at Pearl Studios, Liverpool, so we were there, naturally. We drove up to Newcastle to see Razorblade Smile recording their contribution, also down to Bristol for Secret Shine.

(Yes, Secret Shine did record that beautiful song for us!)

Sleeve photo is of an "ancient variety of tomato", a little pot I saw at botanical garden in south Kyoto. We printed in 2 colours, Japan did CD cover in full colour.

All went well with it, and we even did a Japan tour to promote its release! See some photos at Archive section (coming eventually). I didn't take many photos actually (some stage photos supplied by Por Supuesto), because we usually sat out in the foyer at the Sugarfrost stall, unable to see the gigs... But the life on tour was all too exciting for us, we didn't mind it too much.
