Story

Most of our UK side of releases came out of Pearl Studios, Liverpool, with a dust of magic by engineer Steve Cowell. This release is a typical one - I really like the little twinkly keyboard arrangement, so much so I can still picture the studio scene in my head.

We didn't have much money to spend on recordings, we were still young. Usually it was one whole day until 3am, all done. When we're hungry at midnight, we go out to grab something from a Chinese chippy called Acropolis Bar, which was just about the only thing that's open at such time. And they were remarkably bad. Someone discovered egg fried rice was just about the only thing that's edible that they make, using ingredients that was fresh yesterday.

In 2015, we visited Liverpool and went for a walk around university. At the end of the walk, we came out at a main road. It took us a minute to realise it was where it was - Pearl Studios now demolished and everything around it regenerated. Probably happened a decade ago but we never revisited until then. All our fond memory of Pearl Studio recordings are now literally buried underground.

All that and more come attached to this single. That's just me. But even without it, this is a beautiful record.
